Fake Grass - The Pros For Dog Owners:

• Resilience - Pets can be tough on traditional lawns. All that running, scraping, digging and poop can really ruin a lovely pristine lawn. Thankfully, a modern synthetic lawn, with the right construction elements, offers a combination of comfort and durability that can work well for dogs. Usually made from Polyethylene, Polypropylene or Nylon, these materials are super robust.

• Drainage - Many people’s first concern with fake grass is whether or not dogs can pee and poop on artificial turf. For most brands, your dog’s number twos won’t damage it. Usually, fake turf features a permeable backing that allows fluids to drain effectively away. Some companies even offer dog-friendly features for extra absorption and draining.

• PestFree - Artificial turf can be beneficial for your dog’s health, as it won't attract as many fleas, mites or ticks as natural grass would.

• Safety - Fake laws are often less toxic than any form of chemically treated natural grass.

• Price - Artificial grass is expensive, especially if it’s done right and built specifically for dogs. If you are looking to replace a whole lawn, it could really start adding up!

• Convenience - Cleaning artificial grass can be time consuming. Artificial turf can keep and hold odors that are difficult to eliminate. This means that dog owners will have to make time for hosing and cleaning, especially if it’s used regularly as your dog’s preferred potty place. Depending on your time schedule, this may be an extra chore you just don’t want!

• Safety - We all know some dogs, especially puppies, can’t resist the urge to chew or lick surfaces, especially a newly installed one! This is typically safe with artificial grass, however older or imported artificial grass backings could be treated with lead. This is known to be harmful to people and our pets if ingested. This is why it’s important to choose lead-free, non-toxic artificial grass, made in the United States - which is nearly always the more expensive option.

• Aesthetics - While we know it isn’t all about looks, some dog owners might be put off by the aesthetics of artificial grass. Especially if it is needed to cover a balcony or even an indoor space, if they do not own or have access to a garden. Cleaning artificial grass in these more awkward spaces may also be tricky.

• CityLife - Many pup owners know that cities can be great places for dogs, full of enrichment.
